GDPR

During the months leading up to its enforcement in May 2018 the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) has generated a great deal of discussion across the events industry.

Showlite has participated in association and sector led forums spanning the topic and created a cross divisional working group which includes Head of Marketing, Jo Mayer and Compliance Adviser, Lee Holloway.

Our aim, as ever, is to do the right thing, protecting the rights and reputations of those we work with as well as our own interests in terms of legal compliance.  It is a complicated area and we have worked hard to understand the principles and to implement good practice administration controls as well as appropriate level technological solutions to protect the many forms of personal data that we process both on behalf of our clients and for the day to day running of our business.

Showlite has mapped the different types of personal data that it processes and has determined a lawful basis in each case. This has then determined for us the data subject's rights and whether or not we need to undertake additional analysis such as Data Privacy Impact Assessments or Legitimate Interest Assessments.

We've then reviewed our security arrangements and have tasked the working group with continuous improvement of these areas. And we've tried to be as transparent as possible with a refreshed Privacy Statement.

Showlite commits to initial and ongoing awareness training for all of the team and also to supporting our supply chain in relation to the topic. We offer a helpful approach to our event organiser clients and work hard to find working solutions around data to the benefit of all interested parties.
