When you’re exhibiting once a year, or for the first time, it can be a stressful experience – there’s a huge amount of practical detail involved in a shell scheme presence, quite aside from your own exhibition goals and preparations.
If you’re fortunate enough to have Showlite as the official supplier for your event, however, you can look forward to having some of that stress and worry lifted from your shoulders. How? Well, we had a chat with Jo Richards, Exhibitor Customer Liaison and quizzed her on what an exhibitor can expect.
Customer care
“The first thing to understand is that as official supplier to an exhibition what tends to happen is that many of the exhibitors call in with their initial questions all at the same time. We speak to thousands of individual exhibitors every year and we have a dedicated and ever-expanding team to answer calls and help them with their enquiries across something like 100 different shows. Whilst we provide a library of online manuals, tools and systems to support exhibitors, there is no substitute for that personal service. Organisers quite rightly put a lot of stock in building honest working relationships with their exhibitors, and we take that responsibility seriously on their behalf."
"For some exhibitors, they are gearing up for what may be their one show in the year, and it’s essential that they feel they are in a safe pair of hands, so we work very hard to make sure they are kept fully informed and that we are on hand to assist them in any way possible.”
Electrics
“Some first-time exhibitors find the subject of electrics very daunting, especially if they were expecting to just be able to plug-in and go. Other more seasoned exhibitors will know precisely which options they need. Our job is to make the process as fast and efficient for the experienced exhibitors, and to guide the unsure towards the best and most economical solution to their needs. Like every team at Showlite, we’re careful to treat every exhibitor as our only client, listening carefully to their requirements, and understanding what they are trying to achieve with their exhibit.”
Furniture
“Exhibitors can make use of our online ordering portal to choose their options for furniture, just like electrics, and we pride ourselves on taking the time to discuss their options over the phone or via email, recommending products and helping them get the right quantity and choice of furniture on their stand. With some shows we see the same exhibitors come back year on year, which gives us a great opportunity to build up rapport and understanding.”
Shell Scheme
“Shell scheme packages can be uninspiring, and in their “raw” form they won’t set any hearts a-flutter. We’re on hand to assist exhibitors in adding to their shell scheme to make sure they have the space and features they need, from a curtained off area to shelves, plinths and lecterns. We can even create visualisations of exhibitor stands with their furniture and graphics in place.”
Graphics
“Graphics can be a fraught subject, not everyone is aware of the 'rules' around exhibition graphics - what works, what doesn’t, what's possible, what's ill-advised – so we provide a dedicated graphics service to ensure every exhibitor starts their show with the signage and graphics perfect for them. Exhibitor packages frequently contain a number of options for print and design, and we help liaise between exhibitors and graphics services – providing oversight to ensure the process moves smoothly forward, and to advise exhibitors on how to resolve issues with their intended graphics, and make suitable improvements.”
